The Strange Case of Gibson Guitars

Gibson Guitars

This is a strange case. It seems that the US Dept. of Justice (DOJ) is accusing Gibson of breaking the law in some other Country (Madagascar & India). Since when does the US DOJ act as an International agent; especially when Gibson says they have letters from each Country stating no laws were broken.

What’s going on?

Long before the recent NDAA was passed, federal agents with guns and bullet proof vests broke into Gibson Guitars. As reported by the CEO, no charges have been filed (I think he means criminal charges), but DOJ is suing Gibson at great cost to Gibson. THAT is Obama power!
The CEO reports that DOJ is suing an American Co to protect a foreign Country law; one that protects jobs overseas. What happened to JOBS for America?

Or, is this just another Obama anti-colonial tantrum?

The lawsuit is costing Gibson plenty in legal fees. These will ultimately result in higher consumer prices or loss of jobs at Gibson, or both. It might even drive Gibson to move where they have economic freedom.
Ironically, just recently, Obama virtually shouted at his jobs conference that America needs no more regulations than needed for the health, safety, and security of American people.

But this seems NOT about American law or regulations. It seems to be about Global Potentate Obama.

Can you help me? Can you explain it?
